A Pilates and Functional Movement Center specializing in Pilates, strength training, functional fitness, barre, pelvic floor rehab and postnatal fitness. We offer private instruction as well as small group classes and workshops. Co-founded by Beth Koppe and Julie Koenig in May 2023. Align Studio is an all inclusive movement collective where every body is welcome.
Julie has a background in dance, Pilates, holistic medicine and functional fitness. She has a Bachelors degree in Holistic Health, is an ITT certified Pilates Instructor, and is a Core Exercise Solutions certified Corrective Exercise Specialist.
She enjoys spending as much time as possible out in nature with her family. She has a wonderful husband Jude, two amazing sons Max and Maddux and a spunky dog Penny.
Julie has a strong foundation in anatomy and biomechanics to teach corrective and rehabilitative exercises. She has a passion for educating others in health and wellness. She has 10 years of experience working with pre and postnatal women, specializing on exercises that support women before, during and after pregnancy. She trains clients on how to gain body awareness, to increase coordination and find balance. She is an advocate of comprehensive care and educates clients how to take a collaborative approach with their health. Achieving solutions for total well being is a goal of Julie's with every client.
Beth has been a competitive athlete all her life. Throughout high school and college she played soccer, basketball and track and field. She raced mountain bikes competitively for 10 years, and in 2005 Beth won the US National Championship in Downhill Mountain Biking. She is an avid skier, mountain biker, backpacker, and swimmer. Beth is a well-rounded athlete who has a deep understanding of what it means to use the body to its fullest potential.
Beth discovered Pilates to rehabilitate her body from the cumulative injuries of her athletic endeavors over the years. She went to her first class with lower back pain, and immediately felt the benefits of this movement form. Over time she began to correlate being a bike mechanic with being a Pilates practitioner – both practices serve the purpose of repair and maintenance to facilitate doing what she enjoys most in this life. There is a continuum of care one can experience with Pilates, transitioning from an injured state via the rehabilitative benefits of the practice, to a more athletic movement practice. This transition is beautiful, and is what Beth aims to share with her clients through Pilates.
Beth was diagnosed with breast cancer in the Fall of 2022, and subsequently underwent surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation. Over the course of her treatment protocols, she used Pilates to maintain her mental and physical strength. This experience, in addition to her athleticism, has reinforced Beth’s belief that Pilates can be used to rehabilitate both the mind and the body through incredible challenges.
Beth has been certified as a Pilates Instructor since 2014 from the Integrated Teacher Training program in San Francisco. She is trained in functional anatomy, postural analysis, mat, and apparatus Pilates. Beth holds additional certifications in the following movement disciplines: TRX (2014), NASM Personal Trainer (2015), and Cranial Sacral Level 1 (2021). Beth and Julie co-founded Align Studio with the ethos that everyone harbors physical strength within just waiting to be tapped.
